IFC Fraternities

There are currently nine chartered fraternities and one colony who are part of the IFC at San Jose State. IFC fraternities are the largest and oldest of American fraternities and tend to have been founded in the 1800's in colleges and universities in the Eastern United States. The basis for these fraternities stemmed from Erodelphian, Literary Societies and Debate Clubs who would meet to discuss about  global issues and literary articles.

These societies at some point decided to "upgrade" their purpose and formed brotherhoods based on princples based on brotherhood, scholastics and other various principles to preserve a tight-knit brotherhood and values.

The list of fraternities on the left hand menu are the current fraternities who make up the Council here at San Jose State.
